Information
A-PVP is chemically the ketone analog of proline. Physically, it is an odorless, colorless solid crystal form. α-PVP is also chemically called α-pyrrolidinovalerophenone, 1-Phenyl-2- (pyrrolidine-1-yl) pentane-1-one, α-Pyrrolidinopentiophenone.
Pharmacology and Effects
A-PVP is a synthetic cathinone that functions as a potent inhibitor of dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake, leading to strong stimulant effects. It produces increased alertness, euphoria, and psychomotor activation similar to other pyrrolidinophenones such as MDPV.
Mechanism of action: Dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor
Receptor targets: DAT > NET (no significant serotonergic activity)
Onset: Rapid, within minutes
Duration: 2–4 hours (variable)
Reported effects: Stimulation, euphoria, increased energy
Potency: High, active at low milligram doses
Risks and Side Effects
A-PVP has been linked to severe adverse effects including agitation, paranoia, tachycardia, and hyperthermia. Toxic overdoses and fatalities have been reported, especially when used in high doses or combined with other stimulants.
Cardiovascular: Tachycardia, hypertension, chest pain
Neurological: Agitation, tremors, seizures
Psychiatric: Anxiety, paranoia, hallucinations
Thermoregulatory: Hyperthermia, dehydration
Toxicity: Documented cases of severe intoxication and death
Dependence potential: High, with strong craving behavior
Warning
The use of A-PVP may pose serious health risks. It is strongly discouraged for recreational use.
